Flashback Friday

Hey! It's Friday! That means two things: PAYDAY and time for a Flashback.

Two years ago, I had the pleasure of attending the baby shower of one of my very best friends. While any baby shower is exciting and special, this one was especially so. For the baby we were celebrating was SO very wanted, had been wanted for a very long time before he ever became a reality; a baby that truly was a dream come true. To this day, when I remember the day we were told that this dream was becoming a reality, I still get teary. Michelle will tell you what a big spaz I was about the whole thing. Every. time. I. saw. her.

Anyway, at the shower, we went around the room sharing how we knew the Mother-to-be. So it came to my turn, and I told Michelle that she stood to make some money that day because I'd made a bet with myself that I wouldn't cry and if I did, I'd pay her $10. So I started sharing how I knew her, and how excited I was about this baby...and damnit, I was crying. Of course, she was laughing at me, as any good friend would do, as I shamefully handed over the $10. But they were happy tears and I refuse to apologize for them.

Flashback Friday

Today we're flashing back to 2003. Sam was almost 13 months old and I had very short hair (compared to now). We were both sporting our Sunday best.

It's been awhile since I've flashed ya (hardee har har!), so today we're flashing back to June 2006. Zoë was 9 months old and Sam rapidly approaching 4.

Flashback Friday - May 2004

Every Friday of late I retrieve the CDs with our old pictures from the safe, and then spend entirely too long, browsing thru them, reminiscing and trying to decide which to post. While I'm grateful to have so many pictures to look back on, it's bittersweet to see how much my babies have grown and changed.

Sam was almost 21 months here and my little shadow. We spent all our time together, frequenting the library and the park, playing in the yard, and generally just creating our own fun. We didn't have any stay-at-home-mom friends, and we hadn't yet entered the world of playdates and group activities, but we didn't really mind. We stayed plenty busy and were content to hang out together.

He's always been my little buddy, and I hope that never changes.

Flashback Friday

Last year we went to visit the tulip fields for the first time. Even after all my years of living in this area, I'd never been to see them. I remember it was a rather chilly & windy day, and Zoë's boots kept falling off. Because it was Spring and it had recently rained, there were lots of puddles. Which meant the kids were naturally drawn to them, so we left the fields rather muddy and wet. But the tulips were gorgeous and to see hundreds and thousands of them swaying in the breeze was truly spectacular. I decided right then and there I would have a similar flower garden, just maybe on a smaller scale.

Since the forecast is for sun tomorrow and temps close to 60° (a virtual heatwave!) we may try to head out to revisit the tulip fields. Now that I have a fancy schmancy camera, I'd love to get some pictures, not to mention some fresh air and sun on my face.
